The Harlem Renaissance Movement

The Harlem Renaissance was a time of progress for the Negro Intellect, originally known as the New Negro Movement. Beginning around 1918 to 1940 in Harlem, New York City. During this period of the great migration, African American Artist found each other in industrial cities, such as Harlem, NY; as it quickly became the hot spot for new ideas and cultural expression. The focus of this modernist artistic vision, was to showcase the various aspects of African Americans and their new found sense of self. The following Artist are some of the major players in what has come to be known as "The Harlem Renaissance Movement".
